Water surges down mountainside amid heavy rain in the Philippines
This is the dramatic moment water surges down a mountainside amid heavy rain in the Philippines.
Footage captured by KC Paterno Victor shows motorists navigating through murky waters cascading down from the hill during a downpour on Manila East Road in Cardona, Rizal.
A motorcycle rider was seen disembarking his vehicle before pushing it just metres away from the waterfall-like area on June 6.
KC said: 'The rain was really heavy at that time, and we were surprised to see waterfalls forming along the sides of the rocks.
'We'd never seen that before. Apparently, subdivisions were built uphill, and many trees were cut down, according to residents.'
Local media reported that rocks continue to fall in the area even during dry conditions.
The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
