This is the dramatic moment floodwater surges through the streets amid heavy rain in the Philippines.

Footage captured by resident Margie shows the raging torresnts sweeping past her home during an intense downpour in Minuyan Proper, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, on June 6.

Margie said: 'This is what happens on our street every time there's heavy rain. Last year, my e-bike and even my dad were swept away by the flood because the drainage was clogged, so the water overflowed onto the road.

'The water's really strong. It's like there's a waterfall here. That's how dangerous it gets in our area.'

San Jose Del Monte City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that 22 villages were affected by flooding caused by a low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
