A large mirror collapsed onto a sofa and shattered at a salon after an earthquake struck the Philippines.

Footage shows the aftermath with sharp glass shards scattered at Touch and Highlights Salon in Davao de Oro on June 17 following a magnitude 5.4 quake.

Customers fled outside while the owner and staff members assessed the damage after the trembling subsided.

No one was seriously hurt, but one of their clients was left with light wounds on her wrist when the debris sliced through her skin.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake's epicentre was traced to the small town of Lingig in nearby Surigao del Sur province.

Its earthquake of tectonic origin occurred at 4:36 pm with a depth of 29 kilometers.

There were no reports of damage but Phivolcs warned that aftershocks may follow.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
