This is the terrifying moment waves crashed over a seawall and slammed into a coastal home during the Typhoon Wipha onslaught.

Cherry Amor Garrido and her family were forced to flee as seawater flooded their house when powerful swells rushed through their kitchen in Negros Occidental, the Philippines.

Footage shows the violent surge striking their roof, causing it to collapse on July 24.

Water entered the room, prompting the residents to retreat to safety.

Cherry said: 'It was high tide at that time. Up until now, the waves are still strong. The seawall is already damaged and has a hole at the bottom — it could collapse anytime.'

The chaotic scene came amid the carnage from Typhoon Wipha, which triggered floods across Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Hong Kong was also battered by the storm.

In the Philippines, at least seven people were killed and more than 60,000 were displaced.
