This is the heartwarming moment kind office staff surprised a security guard working on his birthday - with a homemade cake.

Footage shows the colleagues approaching the dedicated employee they call Manong with a candle-lit chocolate dessert in Laguna, the Philippines.

They sang for the pensioner who turned 70 that day, but still reported for duty as he did not want to miss work.

Manong blew out the candle and received their warm wishes as the group cheered for the elderly guard on June 12.

Staff member Rebeca Sexiona said: ‘We surprised our hardworking company security guard with a cake.

‘He was so happy and emotional with our simple treat for him. We wanted to show him our genuine appreciation.'

Rebeca said there was cheerful music being played on a loudspeaker while everyone sang ‘happy birthday' song.

Manong waved to his well-wishers before clapping with them in happiness.
