This is the dramatic moment hero residents scrambled to push a stranded lorry off a railway line just before a train arrived.

Bystanders ran to the vehicle when its engine stalled while crossing the tracks in Central Java, Indonesia.

Footage shows concerned motorists and pedestrians pushing against the front of the delivery truck on June 25.

More individuals were called over, forming a team of nearly a dozen men who began shoving together with all their strength as a warning siren signalled an approaching locomotove.

Stunned onlooker Tiffa said: ‘The truck was nearly across when it suddenly stalled. The driver could not start the engine again. The men acted without hesitation and risked their lives to stop a crash.'

The group managed to reverse the heavy vehicle away from the railroad, avoiding disaster.

No one was hurt or and the vehicle was later taken to a repair garage.
