KERRVILLE, Texas — U.S. Coast Guard aircrews responded to flash flooding near Kerrville, Texas, conducting 12 flights and rescuing 15 campers from Camp Mystic in Hunt on July 4.

According to information from the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), the Coast Guard also deployed a rescue swimmer who remained on scene with additional victims, providing medical aid and helping coordinate the evacuation of 230 people with the assistance of other agency aircraft.

The missions were part of a broader response to severe flash flooding in the region, which stranded campers and residents in low-lying areas over the Independence Day holiday.

Authorities continue to monitor conditions and emphasize the importance of heeding flood warnings and evacuation orders.
