Los Angeles, United States - July 13, 2025 07/13/2025 12:00 am GMT-0700 BURBANK, Calif. – A pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash late Saturday night near the Hollywood Burbank Airport, prompting a large-scale law enforcement response and an ongoing K-9 search. According to LAPD's Foothill Division Watch Commander, officers initiated a pursuit of a gray SUV just before midnight after determining the vehicle was reported stolen. The chase led southbound on the I-5 Freeway before the suspect exited at Hollywood Way. As the vehicle exited the freeway, officers reported that items were being thrown from the SUV. The driver continued south on Hollywood Way, passing the Bob Hope Airport (KBUR), before attempting to turn onto Empire Avenue. The vehicle failed to make the turn, jumped a curb, crashed through a chain-link fence, and came to a stop just short of nearby train tracks. Responding officers from both the LAPD and the Burbank Police Department quickly established a perimeter and launched a containment operation. As of 2:30 a.m., Sunday, K-9 search teams were still actively combing the area for the suspect, who remains at large. Authorities describe the suspect as a heavy-set Hispanic male. Two handguns and open containers of alcohol were recovered from the crashed SUV.
