On July 22 in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, small rocks began to fall from a hillside beside a highway. Just as a fuel tanker passed by, a large section of the hillside collapsed the next second, sending rocks crashing onto the road. The tanker narrowly escaped disaster.

On July 23, local government officials stated that there were no casualties or fuel leaks. The landslide was triggered by continuous rainfall, and the road has since been repaired and reopened to traffic.
