Officers rescue child trapped in car on hot day in Indiana
Police broke a car window to rescue a child locked inside on a sweltering day in Indiana.
Bodycam footage shows an officer responding to a distressed mother at a parking lot in Indianapolis on July 25, when temperatures hit 32 degrees C.
After confirming where the baby was seated, the officer struck the front passenger window with a baton, shattering it after several hard blows.
The panicked mother quickly pulled the baby carrier out, and the officer directed her to bring the child into the nearby air-conditioned library.
An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said: ‘Never leave a child alone in a vehicle, not even for a minute.'
The child was unharmed and reunited with her mother following the rescue.
When asked how the baby was trapped inside the vehicle, the mum reportedly said she gave the keys to her kid to play with and stepped out for a bit, but the doors became locked.
