A kind local's attempt to feed a stray dog took an unexpected turn when the hungry animal chased him away.

Bulvej-Finn Lehnert wanted to offer food to the white mother dog resting by the roadside, but the protective pooch suddenly charged at him in Manila, the Philippines.

Point-of-view footage shows the youngster carrying the snack and placing it on the ground next to a box where six newborn puppies were lying on January 1.

The canine approaches Finn, briefly glances at her babies, then fiercely glares at him.

She bares her teeth in warning and growls at the teenager before lunging toward him.

The boy quickly turned and sprinted back to his home, managing to outrun the animal.

Finn said: 'I just wanted to take a video of the dogs to see how many there were. It was still funny because I never thought the dog would chase me even after I gave her food.'
