The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 61,599, with 154,088 injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted in 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Tuesday. Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks on the enclave killed 100 people and wounded 513 others. Thirty-one people lost their lives and 388 others got injured when they were attempting to get aid, according to the statement. Gaza's health authorities reported five more deaths from famine and malnutrition in the past day, including two children, bringing the total number of hunger-related deaths to 227, including 103 children. A statement released by Hamas on Tuesday condemned Israel for its brutal attacks, which are killing civilians and creating famine and chaos. Despite rising protests from the international community, Israel has insisted that it will not change its course, the statement added. Hamas urged Arab and Islamic states to pressure the United States to intervene and contain Israel. Israel has not yet responded to the statement. Five countries airdropped a total of 97 food packages into Gaza on Tuesday as a severe famine unfolds in the besieged enclave. The packages were delivered by the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy, the Israeli military said, noting that the deliveries were made "in accordance with directives from the political echelon." The military said the airdrops are expected to continue in cooperation with foreign countries, while denying Israel was deliberately causing starvation in Gaza.
