The Pacu Jalur Festival is held annually at Tepian Narosa, Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. The race takes place along the stream of the Batang Kuantan River, which serves as the natural arena for this traditional longboat competition.

Time
The event takes place every year in late August, usually in conjunction with Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations. in 2024 it was held from August 20 to 24.

The festival is not only a thrilling boat race but also a vibrant cultural celebration:
The Race: Longboats, locally called jalur, measure between 25–40 meters and carry up to 60 rowers working in perfect rhythm.
Cultural Attractions: Visitors can enjoy traditional music, dances, parades, handicraft exhibitions, and local culinary showcases.
Unique Tradition: Each boat features a child dancer (Anak Coki), who performs at the bow to inspire and boost the team’s spirit. This role has recently gone viral internationally, bringing global attention to the festival.
