US, Los Angeles: Santa Clarita LASD Station Shut Down After Mortar Brought to Station

Los Angeles, United States - September 08, 2025 09/07/2025 07:31 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A citizen transporting a mortar to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station spurred the shutdown of the Santa Clarita Valley Station Sunday evening. The incident began shortly before 7:30 p.m. when a person contacted the Santa Clarita Valley Station to notify them they had an explosive inside their vehicle, which was parked in the station’s lot. The station reportedly initiated an evacuation and transferred the 911 call operation to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. The surrounding area was sealed off with at least two miles of road closures on Golden Valley Road. Video captured by Key News Network shows a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s arson and explosive deputy taking custody of what appears to be a military-grade mortar. The station resumed operation shortly after 8:30 p.m. Drone footage featured here has been reviewed and verified by Key News Network LLC.
