United States - September 19, 2025 U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 129th Rescue Wing carried out a long-range maritime rescue after a crew member aboard the Panama-flagged cargo vessel Grand Vega reportedly suffered a suspected stroke. The ship was located approximately 780 nautical miles west of California. Four pararescuemen parachuted into the ocean with a boat package, boarded the vessel, and stabilized the patient for transfer. The operation was coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard District 11. The 129th Rescue Wing utilizes HH-60G/HH-60W helicopters and HC-130J aircraft to support search and rescue missions. This operation highlights their ability to conduct complex, long-range overwater rescues.
