Devotees in Kota, India, have erected a huge 221.5-metre-tall effigy of Ravana as part of Dussehra festivities.

The Asia Book of World Records and the India Book of World Records have both recognised it as the world's tallest effigy of Ravana.

A massive 4,000 square metres of velvet cloth was used to make it waterproof.

For the 2025 Dussehra festival, Kota, Rajasthan, installed what was reported to be the world's tallest effigy of Ravana. The effigy was part of the 132nd National Dussehra Fair in the city and was set ablaze on October 2, 2025. The immense structure earned a world record and was recognised in both the Asia Book of World Records and the India Book of World Records.

The massive structure was assembled using a steel frame, scaffolding, and covered with 4,000 square meters of velvet cloth to make it waterproof. A 220-tonne hydraulic crane was required to hoist it into place.It featured a 25-foot fibreglass face, a 60-foot LED-lit crown, a 50-foot sword, and 40-foot shoes.The official height was measured at 221.5 feet, but agencies confirmed it reached 222 feet with a bulb on top. However, during the event, its height was reported as 233 feet.
