This is the amusing moment a government aid worker brought some light relief to flood-stricken residents by repeatedly falling off a walkway.

Footage shows the officer, dressed in a bright yellow top, brown trousers, and rubber boots, cautiously making his way along a narrow wooden path towards a flooded house.

Suddenly, he pretends to slip and falls straight into the murky floodwaters in the Bang Krathum district of Phitsanulok, northern Thailand, sparking laughter from the locals.

He said: 'Oh no! Why didn't anyone say it was slippery? It's okay, it's okay.'

The homeowner quickly checks on him, worried but chuckling at the same time. She said: 'That must have hurt. Do you have your phone with you?'

After standing up, the man deliberately falls again while trying to get back onto the makeshift walkway, causing the crowd to erupt into even more laughter on October 6.

Typhoon Matmo has brought heavy rain across several provinces in Thailand. The Meteorological Department warned of widespread and intense downpours as the storm and a strengthening monsoon system continue to batter the region.
