Hot Air Balloon Slams Into Rooftops In Sao Paulo’s Vila Mariana District
A red-and-yellow hot air balloon crashed onto several rooftops in the Vila Mariana neighborhood on October 5, 2025, after drifting dangerously low above the city streets.
Video recorded by X user Pitacos do Sofá captured the balloon’s basket hanging just above power lines and traffic lights as it floated through the south zone. Cyclists and pedestrians looked on as the balloon moved between tall buildings and walls covered in graffiti.
The aircraft eventually struck the roofs of three homes on Rua Coronel Lisboa, igniting a small fire and cutting power to a nearby condominium.
Authorities later confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
