On September 21 in Anyang, Henan Province, a mother was about to give medicine to her 5-month-old baby when she suddenly noticed black smoke billowing from the ceiling light in her bedroom - moments later, it burst into flames.

Home surveillance footage captured the entire incident, showing smoke emerging from the chandelier like “countless tiny black ghosts” swirling eerily through the air before sparks shot downward and the fire quickly spread.

Despite the shock, the mother stayed calm, swiftly moving her baby to safety before grabbing a household fire extinguisher to put out the blaze. Thanks to her quick action, the fire was contained in time, and both mother and child were unharmed.

Afterwards, the woman said the chandelier had only been in use for just over two years and suspected the fire might have been caused by a quality issue.
