A dog had a funny reaction after it was accidentally hit with holy water during a church service.

The two-year-old Shih Tzu–poodle mix named Blake attended the mass when the priest walked by using a sprayer in Quezon, the Philippines.

Footage shows the pet calmly sitting in its owner's arms before jerking when the stream splashed on its face.

The shocked canine shook its head, making churchgoers laugh at the unexpected scene.

Pet owner Van Gabriel Anoso said: 'We often attend mass at Hand of Hesus church and we always bring Blake with us because he loves going out and cries whenever he is left behind. He behaves well inside the church, never barks at other pets, and just sits quietly on the bench.

'After every mass, the priest blesses the people with holy water, and perhaps he used that type of sprayer so the water could reach those sitting at the back since there were so many attendees.

'Unexpectedly, when the priest passed by our row, the spray landed right on Blake's face, and we could not help but laugh at his reaction.'
