This footage reportedly shows headhunters in Papua allegedly firing at an aircraft carrying Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during his official visit to the region.
The video clip shows alleged members of the West Papua National Liberation Army - Free Papua Organisation (TPNPB‑OPM) targeting the plane in Wamena on Wednesday, January 14.
Reports said the Indonesian leader's trip aims to support efforts for inclusive and balanced development across Papua.
In Wamena, he intends to meet with youth, assess local economic projects, and consult with community leaders to improve coordination between regional and central government authorities.
Gibran began his visit in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province, after landing at Frans Kaisiepo Airport at 12:40 pm local time on Tuesday.
The Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) is the armed wing of the Free Papua Organisation (OPM), a separatist group that seeks independence for the Papua region of Indonesia.
The group has been involved in a long-running insurgency against the Indonesian government, demanding self-determination for the indigenous Papuan people. Their fight is fueled by grievances over human rights abuses and a lack of political autonomy in the region.
