A major fire erupted on Saturday afternoon at the cargo terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, forcing authorities to suspend all flights.

The blaze broke out around 2:30 p.m. in the airport’s cargo village, where imported goods are stored. Airport Executive Director Md Masudul Hasan Masud confirmed at 3:45 p.m. that emergency operations were underway to contain the situation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), teams from the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Fire Service, and Air Force joined forces to battle the flames, with the Navy also assisting in containment efforts.

All takeoffs and landings remain suspended as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control. The cause and extent of the damage have yet to be determined.
