US Fugitive Nicholas Rossi Who Fled To Scotland Sentenced For Rape. A US man who faked his own death and fled to Scotland after being accused of rape has been jailed for at least five years. Nicholas Rossi, 38, from Rhode Island, was convicted of raping two women in Utah back in 2008. A judge in Salt Lake City sentenced him to five years to life for the first conviction, with sentencing for the second due next month. The Judge described Rossi as a “serial abuser of women” and “the very definition of a flight risk”, saying he fled the country, assumed a false identity, and still refused to admit who he was. Rossi’s story made headlines when he was arrested in a Glasgow hospital in 2021, where staff recognised his tattoos from an Interpol notice. He insisted he was “Arthur Knight”, an Irish orphan wrongly accused. After months of bizarre court appearances, he was extradited to the US in January 2024 and put on trial in Utah for both rapes.
