An attempted robbery ended in a shootout on Monday night on the Anchieta Highway, near the Jardim Silvina neighborhood in São Bernardo do Campo. According to the Military Police, around ten criminals set up a roadblock, blocking access to Rua Pedro Zolczac to rob drivers passing through the area.

A Tactical Force team from the 6th Battalion of the Military Police, which was nearby, was called after a 190 emergency report and managed to surprise the group by approaching with high beams on and emergency lights off. Unaware that it was a police vehicle, the criminals attempted to stop the car and ended up starting a gunfight.

During the shootout, one of the suspects, around 30 years old, was shot. He was rescued but did not survive his injuries. At the scene, officers seized a revolver used by the assailants. The other criminals managed to flee, and police are still searching for the group.
