A mother and her child fled a burning motorcycle at a petrol station in Thailand, narrowly escaping serious injury as flames suddenly erupted.

Reports confirmed the fire broke out at a petrol pump in Prachinburi on October 22, around 5 pm local time.

Eyewitnesses said the pair were refuelling their motorcycle when a fuel leak occurred. The mother then started the bike, causing sparks that quickly engulfed the vehicle in flames.

Footage shows the toppled motorcycle ablaze as the rider hurriedly runs from the burning vehicle.

A quick-thinking employee rushed to assist, uprighted the burning motorcycle, and moved it away before another worker doused the flames using a fire extinguisher.

The distressed mother immediately embraced her 11-year-old daughter, who had been riding pillion.

Authorities reported the mother suffered severe burns to her left leg, while the daughter sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to Kabin Buri Hospital for treatment.

A kindhearted motorist who happened to be at the station volunteered to take them home, with the damaged motorcycle left at the scene.
