Elephant irritated by car parked on road bend attacks its roof rack
This driver suffered some instant karma from Mother Nature for parking in a blind spot - with an elephant smashing off his roof rack.
The jumbo took on the role of a parking warden when it spotted the black Honda blocking the turn in Nakhon Ratchasima, northeast Thailand.
Footage captured by stunned onlooker Achira Sattaporn shows the beast tearing off the metal frame attached to the four-wheeler before repeatedly nudging the vehicle on October 28.
The helpless car owner and other locals could only stand back and watch as the animal damaged the vehicle.
Achira said: 'Nobody wanted to approach the elephant. We were just hoping that he would not cause any major damage to the car.'
Thailand has up to 3,500 elephants in the wild. The population has been increasing in recent years, but it is still a fraction of the estimated 300,000 wild elephants that lived in the country at the beginning of the 20th century.
The main threats to wild elephants in Thailand are habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and conflict with humans.
