This is the dramatic moment a father and his sons were rescued from a flood in Vietnam.

Footage shows the pair clinging to a pole as emergency responders arrived in Da Nang on October 28, while his other child was seen metres away, also holding on to a post.

The trio had been travelling by boat to buy food when powerful floodwaters capsized their vessel. The father managed to swim with one child, holding tightly to the pole until help arrived.

A Da Nang City Police Youth Union team, passing by on relief work, spotted them just in time and carried out the rescue. No injuries were reported.

Central Vietnam was hit by torrential rain, causing severe flooding. Authorities reported at least 14 deaths and more than 128,000 homes submerged across 90 communes.

Eight people remain missing, and 19 others were injured as the freak weather also triggered landslides.
