Slidell, United States - November 01, 2025 On Saturday, November 1, 2025, a vigilant citizen helped Slidell Police apprehend two shoplifters by giving Sgt. Jeff Kahrs a ride during a high-stakes pursuit at Dillard’s on 940 Town Center Parkway. The chase began when 34-year-old Kelsey Baird of Navarre, Florida, attempted to steal merchandise. Spotted by a detail officer, she discarded the items and fled on foot into the parking lot. Her friend, 43-year-old Eric Boudreaux of Biloxi, Mississippi, waited in a vehicle and honked to guide her. Sgt. Kahrs pursued Baird on foot until the Good Samaritan offered him a ride. This allowed him to safely maintain visual contact with the fleeing suspects while coordinating with responding officers over the radio. Backup officers quickly arrived and took Baird and Boudreaux into custody. Boudreaux faces charges of theft and resisting an officer by flight. Baird was charged with theft, resisting an officer by flight, and possession of a Schedule II narcotic (methamphetamine). Slidell Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau praised both the officers and the citizen, stating, “People like you are the reason why Slidell is a great place to live and work. Without hesitation, you assisted one of our officers… expecting nothing in return. THANK YOU!”
