This is the amusing moment a wild bear joined a shocked family's picnic in the woods.

Footage shows the sun bear sitting on the grass next to a tent where a man was resting at Panoen Thung, Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi, Thailand.

The visibly stunned camper sat still as he watched the black bruin groom itself on May 2.

The outdoors enthusiast said that he had been sitting inside his tent while preparing lunch to stay out of the rain when the bear suddenly appeared and walked up to his camping area.

He said: 'I was surprised when it did not react aggressively. It just sat quietly right in front of me, as if keeping me company.'

Sun bears are generally shy, but they can become aggressive if startled, threatened, or protecting their young.
