When the rain falls, we don’t have a good place to protect us from it. We deal with this problem. And we don’t have clothes, by the way. Before two months, the Israeli army called us and said, ‘Go out, we want to destroy this house,’ and we lost all our things and all our clothes. So we don’t have clothes, we don’t have anything to protect us from the rain, and we don’t have anything to protect us from the winter.
[…]
Imagine—winter is coming, and you don’t have a place to protect you, and you don’t have clothes.”

GAZA, PALESTINE - NOV. 7: Left homeless by the Israeli attacks, Palestinian resident Wail Mohammed has been forced to move his family into the basement of the ruined Khaled Hamd Mosque in Gaza.
With winter approaching, Mohammed cleared and organized the debris-filled space to create a shelter for his family.
Wail said that conditions are extremely difficult in the winter, and that they have neither a tent nor any resources.
Another family member, Melek Wail, said they lost all their belongings in a single day when the Israeli army ordered them to leave their home. “The Israeli army called us and said, ‘Go out, we want to destroy this house,’” she said, explaining that they now have no clothes and no home to protect them from the rain and the winter.
She urged people to put themselves in Palestinians’ shoes, saying, “Imagine—winter is coming, and you don’t have a place to protect you, and you don’t have clothes.”
The scale of destruction in Gaza is vast. According to the Gaza government's data, Israeli attacks since October 2023 have killed nearly 69,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,600 others.
The data also indicates that Israel destroyed about 90% of the territory’s civilian infrastructure, causing initial losses estimated at $70 billion. United Nations estimates state that 92 percent of all residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.
The ceasefire, brokered by the United States, saw Israeli forces partially withdraw from some parts of Gaza.
