An anti-corruption protest took over the streets of Mexico City.

Footage shows demonstrators marching through the capital on November 15, many waving Mexican flags.

Some carried banners featuring symbols from the Japanese manga series One Piece, using the imagery to protest government policies.

Thousands of young people, organised by Gen Z, joined the rally to voice their opposition to rising crime, corruption, and impunity.

Local media reported that protesters tore down fences surrounding the National Palace, where President Claudia Sheinbaum resides.

Activists said police deployed tear gas against the crowd. Authorities, however, denied using chemical agents, claiming fire-extinguisher-based substances were used instead, though protesters described the response as repression.

Mexico City's public safety secretary, Pablo Vazquez, said around 100 police officers were injured, with 40 requiring hospital treatment.

Twenty civilians were also reported injured, while another 20 were arrested, and additional participants were referred for administrative offences.

The protests form part of a broader wave of youth-led demonstrations seen recently in countries including Nepal, Peru, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Philippines, where participants have expressed concerns over economic hardship and governance.
