This is the shocking moment a mother and her baby were nearly run over after falling directly in front of a moving lorry.

CCTV footage shows the woman carrying her toddler when she tripped over an uneven section of the street as the container truck passed by in Calarca, Colombia.

She can be seen lurching forward onto the ground, with her head hitting the rear tyre and catching some of her hair on November 10.

Despite the fall, she firmly held her daughter, who was wrapped in a pink blanket.

A motorcyclist nearby rushed over to help lift her from the asphalt, and one of the lorry's occupants immediately stepped out of the vehicle to assist.

They then attended to the baby first before carrying the clearly distressed woman off the road.

Local media reported that both mother and baby sustained only minor bruising and did not require hospital treatment.

The uneven road surface, reportedly caused by recent works, raised concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.

Following the incident, residents called on local authorities to introduce measures to protect pedestrians in busy or damaged areas.
