China has sustained strong momentum in its rural industrial revitalization this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. From January to October, the agricultural product processing industry maintained steady growth. The value-added output of agricultural and sideline food processing enterprises above the designated size increased by 6.3 percent year-on-year. New industries and business models have been brimming with vitality in rural areas, driven by the integration of agriculture with tourism, culture, sports, and e-commerce, and by the rapid growth of sectors such as rural leisure tourism and rural e-commerce. These developments have not only become new drivers of industrial growth, but also new sources of income for farmers. During the January–October period, rural retail sales of consumer goods reached 5.5 trillion yuan, up 4.6 percent year-on-year. The growth rate was 0.4 percentage points higher than that of urban areas. Online retail sales in rural areas increased by 7.5 percent, and online sales of agricultural products grew by 9.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, rural specialty industries experienced faster development during the ten-month period. Support policies were implemented for the establishment of 40 new competitive specialty industrial clusters, 50 modern agricultural industrial parks, and 200 agricultural powerhouse towns, fostering the development of 398 industrial powerhouse villages. A range of "small yet refined" and "unique and beautiful" specialty products has been developed, transforming local specialty goods into major industries and continuously enhancing the industrial resilience of rural regions.
