Storyline: Tianjin port received its largest-ever single shipment of Airbus components on Tuesday, marking a logistical milestone that will support the European planemaker's expanding production capacity in the region. The shipment, comprising 12 large aircraft sections, arrived aboard the container vessel "OOCL Denmark" at 02:00 on Tuesday morning. The vessel departed from Hamburg, Germany, and docked at the Pacific International Container Terminal of Tianjin Port. This delivery will support Airbus' recently scaled-up production capabilities in Tianjin Municipality, a key global manufacturing hub for the company. To ensure the efficient and secure handling of the record-breaking cargo, the Tianjin Dongjiang border inspection station streamlined clearance protocols, including pre-arrival procedures that slashed the waiting time for the vessel. "We completed the pre-inspection procedures before the vessel docked, and immediately sent instructions on smartphones to the terminal dispatcher so as to minimize the time difference in information transmission between us and the client company, thus further optimized the customs clearance and terminal dock operational efficiency, and save time to the utmost extent for unloading large components of the Airbus," said Wang Yan, deputy head of Tianjin Dongjiang border inspection station. Since the first large component of an Airbus aircraft arrived in Tianjin in July 2008, Tianjin Port has completed 829 shipments of large components of Airbus. In October this year, Airbus launched its second Final Assembly Line (FAL) for A320 family aircraft in Tianjin, which is also its second such facility in China and in Asia as a whole. Tianjin now hosts two of Airbus' 10 FALs for A320 family aircraft in the world. The combined assembly capacity of the Tianjin lines is set to contribute 20 percent of the company's global total.
