7. VARIOUS OF MEKONG RIVER AND ITS VICINITY VINH LONG, VIETNAM - RECENT, NOVEMBER, 2025: Overfishing in the Mekong River, one of Vietnam’s main water sources, is quickly reducing fish numbers.

Officials said fish are getting smaller and that both spawning and egg production have dropped.

They also noted that traps placed along the river are blocking migration routes, worsening overfishing and raising concerns about the river’s declining ecological health.
