This is the shocking moment a gorgeous woman posing on a beach cliff was swept away by a giant wave.

Footage shows the Chinese tourist, dressed in an orange summer dress, sitting atop the ridge near the turbulent water at the Matrouh Eye scenic area in Mersa Matruh, Egypt.

As the holidaymaker struck a pose, the wave rose behind her and crashed over her on December 7.

She was knocked off her feet and dragged into the sea by the surge.

Her companion rushed to rescue the vacationer, preventing her from drifting further into the water.

Local media reported that she suffered multiple abrasions.

She said: 'The experience was very frightening. I was lucky that I was not seriously injured. I will be more cautious when travelling in the future.'

The woman recalled that she managed to get back to shore by holding onto a safety rope at the site.

The Matrouh Eye scenic area is a popular coastal viewpoint in the city of Mersa Matruh on Egypt's Mediterranean shore, known for its striking rock formations and powerful surf that attracts visitors seeking dramatic seafront photographs.

The spot is often visited for its clear waters and exposed vantage points where waves can crash unexpectedly against the rocks, creating the dramatic scenes that draw crowds but also posing risks for tourists who stand close to the waterline.
