A beachgoer trying to pose like a bikini model on the sand ended up being smashed by a strong wave.

Roann Bueno was stretched out on her side wearing a black one-piece to copy sultry cover girls before the swells surged into her in Ilocos Norte province, the Philippines.

Footage shows Roann trying to channel her inner Kate Upton when the tide swept her back to earth with a splash on January 16.

She was flipped over three times by the impact, leaving her scrambling to sit up straight as her face was wet with sandy water.

Roann said: 'I was trying out model poses at the beach. I did not expect it to be difficult. It was harder than I thought.'

Kate Upton is known for iconic bikini modelling, especially her work with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
