This is the shocking moment hot-headed passengers clashed on the metro over priority seating in Mexico.

Footage captured by Ricardo Romo shows female commuters attacking each other, some even pulling each other's hair inside the train in Mexico City on December 22.

Romo said: 'On Mexico City Metro Line 2, Zocalo station. It happened today around 7:20 pm, and they started a fight over a priority seat on the train.

'it was surprising because normally it's men fighting, but this involved elderly women.'

Some travellers tried to step in, while others remained seated nearby, seemingly unbothered by the confrontation.

Authorities later intervened, separating the passengers and restoring order, with no serious injuries reported.

Priority seats are reserved for elderly, disabled or pregnant passengers. However, some users sit in the positions, causing frustration when those who need the seat are unable to sit there.
