Brit, 52, injured in fistfight with fellow countryman in Christmas night brawl at Pattaya beer bar
A British tourist was injured in a holiday brawl with a fellow countryman at a bar in Pattaya.
Jonathan James Baker, 52, from Barking, downed drinks with other tourists as they celebrated a boozy Christmas night in the Thai 'Sin City', on December 25.
But a drunken fistfight broke out when the inebriated holidaymaker reportedly clashed with the bar owner's boyfriend.
The pair were said to have scuffled outside before staff intervened.
The other Brit, identified by the bar owner as Baren Percy, 62, from Wales, reportedly fled during the melee.
Paramedics later arrived to take an injured Jonathan to the hospital.
Footage shows the festive holidaymaker nodding along to the music as paramedics splinted his injured ankle.
Still in good spirits despite being battered, he was seen clapping his hands while being lifted into the ambulance on a rescue board.
Police Lieutenant Arnan Mahakitausawakul of Pattaya City Police Station said: ‘We did not find the suspect at the scene because he had already fled.
‘We are currently checking security camera footage to track him down.
‘The victim was found lying injured in front of the bar with a broken right leg.
‘We questioned witnesses, including the owner of Apple Bar, who said that the injured British man had an altercation with her boyfriend, who fled the scene before the police arrived.'
The case is the latest to blight the reputation of the notorious coastal town, which attracts millions of tourists each year.
It has been dubbed a 'p*rno Disneyland' by some Brits, who can find relationships and experiences not easily available in their homeland.
However, the region is now often seen as tarnishing the wider image of Thailand as a family-friendly holiday destination with stunning beaches, food and a rich history.
Despite some success in cleaning up the town's image, alcohol and sex remain its biggest draws, often leading to a high rate of crime and accidents.
