US, Phoenix: Surprise Fatal Grand Avenue Collision
Phoenix, United States - January 02, 2026 01/02/2026 03:15 am GMT-0700 SURPRISE, Ariz. – Surprise Police Department officers and Surprise Fire Medical crews responded to reports of a collision with trapped occupants at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Dysart Road at approximately 3:15 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a collision involving a work van and a semi-truck. At least one occupant and a dog were found trapped inside the work van. According to Surprise police, the unidentified trapped occupant and dog were pulled from the van following an extensive extrication operation. The unidentified occupant and the dog were pronounced deceased at the scene. It is unknown if any additional occupants were hospitalized. Grand Avenue was closed in both directions between Dysart Road and Bell Road while Surprise PD investigated the collision.
