This is the shocking moment a seaplane crashed on a lake in Sri Lanka, leaving two pilots injured.

The Cessna 208 Caravan, 4R-CAE encountered problems during its final descent onto Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya at around 12:30 pm local time on Wednesday.

Shortly after, the aircraft operated by Cinnamon Air hit the water and came to rest in the lake.

A report from the Aviation Safety Network stated: 'A float-equipped Cessna 208 Caravan, 4R-CAE, was involved in a water landing accident at Lake Gregory, Nuwara Eliya. The aircraft arrived at Lake Gregory to pick up tourists.'

Emergency responders arrived quickly and worked with civilian boat operators on the lake to rescue the two pilots from the partially submerged plane.

Footage shows rescuers and volunteers attending to the aircraft, which remained partially underwater.

The pair were taken to Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital for medical checks, with initial reports confirming their injuries were not serious.

Officials said strong winds at the time of landing likely made conditions difficult, contributing to the plane's unstable descent and rough contact with the water.

Cinnamon Air has offered seaplane and domestic flights in Sri Lanka since 2013, serving scenic locations and remote areas with amphibious aircraft designed for water landings.
