6. VARIOUS OF COLLAPSED TENTS AROUND CAMP AREA GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JAN. 13: On Tuesday, Jan. 13, powerful winds and torrential rain swept through the coastal area west of the Gaza Strip, flooding the makeshift camps and collapsing tents that serve as the only shelter for hundreds of people.

Samahir el-Berim, a displaced woman living in the camp, described a sleepless night of panic as families tried to save their meager possessions from the rising water.

"We didn't sleep all night trying to keep the water out, but we were powerless," el-Berim said. "All we want is a safe place—a tent that won't collapse on top of us."

Deaths caused by extreme cold in the Gaza Strip have risen to 24, including 21 children, since the start of Israel’s genocidal war in October 2023, the government media office said Tuesday.

The media office also reported that around 7,000 tents have been swept away by the ongoing low-pressure weather system battering the enclave.

It warned of “catastrophic humanitarian consequences” as freezing temperatures return to Gaza amid the continued Israeli onslaught and suffocating blockade, which have caused widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure and forced more than 1.5 million Palestinians into displacement camps lacking the most basic living conditions.
