The storm brought heavy rain and strong winds to southern Gaza, causing tent camps in Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah to flood quickly. Muddy water spread between the tents and entered living areas, forcing families to keep working to push the rising water out.

Using basic tools, families tried to remove the water while keeping their belongings dry. Many tents collapsed under the rain and wind, leaving people exposed to the harsh weather.

Civil Defense teams in Gaza said they received more than 1,000 requests for help from people whose tents were flooded during the storm. Local residents report widespread flooding across several tent camp areas as rainfall continues through the day.

Humanitarian conditions remain challenging as restrictions on aid deliveries continue under the current cease-fire framework.

Since Wednesday, thousands of tents housing survivors of Israel’s war have turned into pools of water, soaking bedding, clothing, and food supplies, and leaving hundreds of Palestinian families exposed to the cold without warmth or shelter.

According to prior data from the media office, Gaza needs around 300,000 tents and prefabricated housing units to meet the most basic shelter needs of Palestinians after Israel destroyed infrastructure over two years of war.

The UN estimates the cost of reconstructing Gaza at about $70 billion as a result of the Israeli war, which has killed more than 70,300 Palestinians and wounded over 171,000. A ceasefire deal took effect on Oct. 10; however, Israel has violated the ceasefire multiple times.
