They stopped in Fort Mill on Wednesday, Jan. 14, after completing the South Carolina leg of the journey, which includes visits to nine state capitols along the way.

The “Walk for Peace” is a long-distance pilgrimage across the United States initiated by 19 Vietnamese Theravada Buddhist monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The walk aims to promote peace, compassion, and nonviolence inspired by the teachings of Gautama Buddha.
