Science Teacher and YouTuber, Jacob Strickling uses hydrogen and oxygen to explode open the newest toy craze to hit Australia - the Hatchimal!
Hatchimal stands for Hatch Animal. They are an interactive soft bird which come in their own egg. Once activated, they start to peck their way out of the egg and kids can see what animal they've 'hatched'. The egg itself is a one-off novelty event.
Since hitting the toy stores they have been snapped up and proved elusive to purchase. Jacob managed to get his from Gumtree at an inflated price!
Rather than waiting for it to hatch in the normal fashion, Jacob thought it would be more fun to fill the egg with hydrogen and oxygen gas which he made with some chemical reactions. He then ignited the gas mixture with a sparkler...and Kaboom!

Jacob has a popular YouTube Channel 'Make Science Fun' and he has just released the book 'Make Science Fun' aimed at parents to do science with their 5-12 year olds at home.
