A neighbour rescued a 4-year-old girl hanging from a fifth-floor window of a residential building in eastern China.

Video filmed in Shanghai on November 11 shows a girl dangling from the window on the fifth floor of a residential building and a man named Yuan Panpan climbing out of the fourth floor to approach the girl.

Yuan was seen standing on a stool to take the girl down from the window and brought her back into the flat with him.

According to reports, the girl was left home alone as her father took her mother to work when she was sleeping.

After the girl woke up, she climbed out of the window to try to find her parents.

The workers of the property management attempted to break into the girl's flat but failed. The neighbour Yuan Panpan then volunteered to go to the flat downstairs and climbed out of the window to rescue the girl.

11月11日上午8时05分，上海金山金荷雅苑小区，一名4岁女童被困在6楼602室窗外，摇摇欲坠，十分危险。
小区物业经理和工作人员等10人立即赶往现场，由于602室的房门打不开，工作人员拿来被子，分别抓住4个角，充当临时“救生气垫”；其他人则分头行动，有的拨打110、119，有的拨打开锁师傅的电话，并想方设法查找小女孩家人的联系方式。
此时，跟小女孩同住一幢楼的邻居袁攀攀自告奋勇，与保安等人前往502室，想从后阳台爬出窗外展开救援。然而上下两层楼之间距离太远，袁攀攀拼尽全力也触碰不到那名小女孩。随着时间一分一秒流逝，小女孩逐渐体力不支，救援迫在眉睫。
危急时刻，袁攀攀急中生智，搬来一只凳子，把它放在外窗台上，然后让保安在房间内扶稳凳子，自己则踩着凳子登高，小心翼翼地将小女孩给抱了下来。
后经居委会了解，小女孩的父亲因送妻子上班，将熟睡的女儿独自一人留在家中，孩子醒后要找父母，继而爬出窗外，所幸救援及时，并无大碍。
“当时，我正好要去上班，下楼时看到邻居围着，想着发生了什么事情，抬头一看才知道不好了！”袁攀攀回忆，当时天下着小雨，看到孩子这么小，自己来不及多考虑，脑子里想的就是救人，所以就“上了”。
