In this Make Science Fun episode cut down, Jacob Strickling - creator of the Make Science Fun YouTube channel, launches Iggle Piggle from a home made cannon.
First some water is added to the cannon, then a small chunk of calcium carbide. The ensuing chemical reaction produces acetylene gas. Iggle Piggle is then stuffed into the top of the cannon. When the correct air/acetylene gas mixture is reached, Jacob ignites the gas through a hole at the base of the cannon.
The resulting explosion blasts Iggle Piggle into the air!
Jacob repeats the demonstration outside, and then uses a much larger cannon to launch a large stuffed toy bear.
Jacob is a Science Teacher from Sydney Australia, and launched his YouTube Channel two years ago to help teach Science to his students and his children.
