This is the terrifying moment a family found a 20ft long king cobra - hiding under their kitchen cupboard.

Khanittha Wisetsathon, 40, came home last Thursday night and screamed with fright when she walked over to fetch a plate and saw the deadly serpent.

She called police who had to send reinforcements because of the size of the creature.

Hair-raising footage shows brave rescuers dragging the beast across the floor and cramming it into a sack outside the home in Krabi, Thailand.

The mother-of-two, who took pictures of the snake glaring back at her, said: ''I've been having nightmares ever since.''

Khanittha's two children were also inside the home and she believes they are lucky not to have been bitten by the cobra.

Son-in-law Nong Rangsan, 18, said: ''The first rescue team couldn't catch the snake so a second one came. They arrived quickly and captured the snake very easily.

''The cobra wasn't hurt at all and it didn't do anything wrong. It was released about 800 metres away from the house.''
