Concerned airport staff filmed dozens of suitcases hurtling down a conveyor belt and smashing into a metal barrier.

Workers at the baggage handling section of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manilia, Philippines, said they were tired of complaints about broken cases.

They filmed the shocking moment cases came flying down a conveyor belt from check in desks at the terminal 1. The luggage is then seen hitting a metal wall during the footage recorded on March 8.

The worker, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that they tried their best to handled the luggage carefully but wanted to highlight the ''outdated facilities'' causing baggage to crack open or get torn.

They said: ''The baggage conveyor is not owned by the company that sorts the cases. It's not entirely our fault when cases break. I want the airport management to fix it.

''The conveyor belt is high and the cases are sent down. They come down quickly and they are damaged on their way out. It's old and poorly maintained.''

An airport spokesman said today (Wed): ''We have received reports of the overly-elevated structures causing damage but we have to verify first before we know what to do.''
