CCTV video captured a drunk driver repeatedly failing to get out of a parking spot and smashing his car into a supermarket and a bus in central China.

The dramatic footage, shot in Xianning City in central China's Hubei Province on April 11, shows the man getting into the car.

He sets off but instead of reversing, goes forward, hitting some stairs leading to a supermarket and crunching the front of his vehicle.

He then reverses at speed into the busy road behind him.

A woman standing next to an adjacent car looks on in a panic.

The drunk driver then goes forward at speed, mounting the steps he had earlier crashed into. Smoke fills the air.

He then tries reversing once more, this time with the front of the car now covered in a sign from the supermarket and hits a passing bus.

The hapless driver then once again advances and mounts the steps before reversing and spinning his car around, coming to a halt in front of the battered supermarket.

Stills seen here show the supermarket full of debris and with its glass front smashed.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

It was confirmed by the authorities that he had been drinking.

The case was being investigated.
